Edasseri Govindan Nair







Edasseri Govindan Nair (1906-74) , poet and social reformer, was a native of Mallur near Kuttipuram, who settled in Ponnani. He was prominent among progressive writers of Kerala.

T. K. Padmini
(1940 - 1969)



A painter from Kerala, India, who left us early in life leaving behind a remarkable collection of paintings. These paintings are either exhibited in the galleries of Kerala Lalithakala Akademi, Kochi and Thrissur, National Gallery of Modern Art, Madras, Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad and at her ancestral home in Kadancheri, Ponani, Kerala, apart from private collections in India and abroad..

T.K. Padmini was born on May 12, 1940 in Kadancheri a remote and sleepy village off Ponani, a coastal town of Kerala. She had her education at A.V. High School, Ponani. Had a brief course of training from Mr. K.L. Devassi, the arts teacher of A.V. High School and Mr. K.M. Vasudevan Namboodiri (Artist Namboodiri), the well-known painter, sculptor and illustrator. She joined the College of Fine Arts and Crafts at Chennai (formerly Madras) in 1961 under the guidance of Principal K.C.S. Panikkar, and received Diploma in Painting (first class, first rank) in 1965).

Kuttikrishnan. P.C (Pen Name: Uroob) (1915-79) was from Kadavanadu in Ponnani. His novels and short stories played a great role in the development of Malayalam literature.He was a Novelist, Short Story Writer, Poet, Essayist, Teacher, Journalist, Producer in the All India Radio.
